So sorry!

We’ve been talking with our two-year-old, Elianna, about what it means to be truly sorry. Lately, she’s been refusing to say the words “I’m sorry” when she does something wrong. Instead, she’ll lean over and give us a little peck on the lips and hope it’ll get her off the hook. And, well, I have to admit, it usually does.

Gotcha!

He snuck up the stairs as quietly as he could. He looked in the bathroom mirror and bandaged the couple of bumps and bruises he’d received in a fight earlier that night. He was a little drunk, but nobody had to know. He proceeded to climb into bed, smiling at the thought that he’d pulled one over on his wife. When morning came, he opened his eyes and there stood his wife. “You were drunk last night weren’t you!” “What? What do you mean?” He replied. “How could you think such a thing?” “Well, if you weren’t drunk, my dear,” his wife pointed in the direction of the bathroom, “why are there bruises on your face and a bunch of band-aids on the bathroom mirror?”

I need a drink!

We are in the midst of the latter rain season here in Israel, and boy is it ever coming down! Praise God — we need it! However, there have been several flash flood warnings near where we live in the Negev Desert this last couple of days and even right now as I write, outside our window there is a downpour like we have not seen for a long time. Even some visiting friends of ours had to leave the Dead Sea area last night because of the flood warnings. So… is it me or does that sound a bit contradictory? Floods…. in the desert!

Need a trim?

When we moved into this place five months ago, the bushes in front looked terrible. The yard hadn’t been cared for in so long that the bushes had grown into the trees, pulling down the branches, creating a thick wall of dry, dusty and intertwined shrubbery and blocking out the sunlight. Almost everything in the front yard was dead from lack of sun and sometimes even rain.
