Issumagijoujunnainermik!

Today’s word is not Hebrew or Greek, it’s Inuit! The word is issumagijoujunnainermik. When missionaries first shared the gospel with the Inuit tribes in Alaska, they couldn’t find any word in the Inuit language for forgiveness.  So, they took a number of Inuit words and joined them to form a new word — Issu-magi-jou-jun-nai-ner-mik — and it became the Inuit word for forgiveness. The individual words are “Not-being-able-to-think-about-it-anymore.”

You’re Covered!

Have you ever heard how a pearl is formed? It is truly fascinating. A foreign object, often a grain of sand, somehow makes it’s way into the tightly sealed crack of an oyster. Instead of spitting out this irritating object, the oyster covers it with layer upon layer of a substance secreted from it’s own body. After months or even years, a beautiful pearl is formed. Like clockwork, at 6:45 each morning our 2-year old daughter, Elianna wakes up and begins calling for us to come and greet her good morning. At this point, my wife and I have come to the conclusion that those 8-hour sleep nights we used to enjoy just aren’t going to happen again –at least for a long, long time.

Race car driving champion Bill Vukovich won the infamous Indianapolis 500 race two times, a record of success few others have achieved. When asked about the secret of his success in the race, Vukovich simply replied, “There’s no secret. You just press the accelerator to the floor and steer left.”

Change your world!

Living in Israel can be interesting. The people here are brutally honest. They’ll tell you what’s on their mind, no holding back. If you’ve gained a few pounds, you’re surely gonna to hear about it. If you’re standing in line at the store or wherever, you can pretty much expect someone to cut right to the front of the line with a sad excuse if any at all.
