Don’t look down!

Years ago, a young sailor went to sea for the first time. Not long after setting sail his ship encountered a heavy storm and the sailor was commanded to go aloft and trim the sails. About three quarters of the way up, the young sailor made the mistake of looking down. The roll of the ship combined with the tossing of the waves made for a frightening experience. The young man started to lose his balance. At that moment, an older sailor underneath him shouted, “Look up, son! Look up!” The young sailor did as he said — he looked up, and regained his balance.

Are you burdened and heavy ladened?

We have a Christian friend who constantly talks about her problems. Every single time we talk to her she tells us how bad things are going in her life and how much she is lacking. Interestingly, in all the years we’ve known her and prayed for her, things have only gotten worse. Though she has come to believe in the God of victory, she is not living a victorious life. How many of us are in this boat?

A missionary in the New Hebrides Islands, described his experience with God’s divine angelic protection. Hostile natives surrounded his mission headquarters one night, desiring to kill him and his wife and burn the place down. All through that terror filled night, they prayed that God would deliver them from this evil. When daylight came they were amazed to see the natives leave, looking frustrated.

It’s good to be home!

After being on the road for months on end, I finally got to sleep in my own bed this week! And boy, it sure was nice! We’re still dealing with jet lag, but isn’t it always great to get home? Well, if it’s that nice to get to our earthly homes after a long journey, can you imagine what it’s going to be like to get to our glorious eternal home?
