by George Whitten, Editor of Worthy Devotions.

1 Chronicles 12:33 Of Zebulun, there were 50,000 who went out in the army, who could draw up in battle formation with all kinds of weapons of war and helped David with an undivided heart.

Colossians 3:23-25 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

50,000 soldiers from the tribe of Zebulun served in David's army with UNDIVIDED (some translations: "not double-hearted") hearts. Can you imagine a skilled army with this level of loyalty and devotion?

An undivided heart is one of the most powerful things on earth. Singleness of purpose will flow from the life of a person whose heart is undivided. Couples whose hearts are devoted to the Lord this way will preserve their marriages, no matter how difficult their issues and problems become. Intercessors whose hearts are filled with a single purpose will ultimately demolish terrible strongholds. Missionaries with vision and absolute loyalty, will be able to take entire nations for Christ. One woman will pour out ointment worth a year's salary on her savior's head. An undivided heart is one of the most powerful things on earth.

Yeshua (Jesus) inspires and empowers undivided hearts. If you really know him well, you will be very much like the men of Zebulun were in their loyalty toward David.

Check your heart. Is it inspired by the beauty, heroism, and love of the Messiah? If not, you just don't know him well enough.

Have you ever used the phrase "I have every reason in the world ....."? I sure have. But I was thinking about it. What I'm really saying when I say that is -- that I have every reason to do whatever it is I'm doing in the world's eyes --and not in my heavenly Fathers!

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, "Do no look at his appearance, or at the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Have you ever used the phrase "I have every reason in the world ….."? I sure have. But I was thinking about it. What I'm really saying when I say that is — that I have every reason to do whatever it is I'm doing in the world's eyes –and not in my heavenly Fathers!

When Samuel was called by God to anoint Israel's next king, he was sure that God's choice would be Jesse's first son Eliab — but he wasn't exactly what the Lord had in mind. God chose the least likely of Jesse's sons, David, because he was a man after His own heart! While the world looks carefully on outward appearance, God is carefully examines the heart!

When making decisions, we need to be sure to have the heart of God in the matter — not our own reasoning, researching and weighing of circumstances. Are you facing a big decision today? What may seem like the perfect opportunity to us and the world around us may not necessarily be God's choice! Let's spend some time praying and seeking the Lord!

1 Chronicles 12:38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

Let's look at the character of the men who joined themselves to David. First of all, they were men of war who could keep rank with a perfect heart. They were men who worked in cooperation with one another – each knowing his position and so able to give orders as well as obey them. They walked in fellowship one with another. Secondly, they were single-hearted men, wholeheartedly devoted to making David king over Israel, and their minds were set to advance David’s kingdom.

If we’re going to advance Yeshua’s (Jesus’) Kingdom, we'll work like David's mighty men with single hearted cooperation and a perfect heart toward our Lord. He said “all men” will know that we are His disciples if we have “love for one another.” [John 13:35] How simple is that?
