You have Him, who is greater than your circumstances.

Matthew 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

The Lord quotes this scripture in Matthew. It contains an important principle which believers sometimes tend to overlook. Many believe and even teach that if you're blessed, your life will be filled with material prosperity, and that if you are undergoing extreme trial, it must be because you have sinned or that you lack faith. The Lord says that the sun rises and the rain falls on both the righteous and the unrighteous alike.

A life of good circumstances does not mean that God is with us. And likewise, a life of trial and suffering does not mean that God is not with us! If we base our lives on our circumstances, we are no different than people without God. What makes us different is that we have something far greater than our circumstances! We have a relationship with the Living God!

There's nothing wrong with rejoicing in the good times but we need to rejoice in the bad as well! We have a greater treasure and a more amazing victory when our lives our centered upon Him.

I NEEDED TO HEAR THIS, RIGHT NOW MY LIFE HAS BEEN TURNED UPSIDE DOWN WITH HAVING A CAR TO NO CAR, A JOB TO NO JOB. I MOVED TO ANOTHER STATE AND STILL NO JOB BECAUSE OF THIS RECESSION. IM ON UNEMPLOYMENT RIGHT NOW AND I THANKED GOD SO MUCH HE IS STILL TAKING CARE OF ME BY RAINING DOWN THIS MANNA FROM HEAVEN. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT I MUST HAVE DONE SOME KIND OF TERRIBLE SIN TO HAVE THIS DONE TO ME WHERE I CAN'T FIND A JOB. PRIOR TO ME READING THIS I FELT GOD HAS LEFT ME. I KEPT ASKING GOD TO FORGIVE ME OF MY SINS OVER AND OVER. I LOVE THIS PASSAGE AND I THANK GOD FROM GIVING ME THIS SITE IN THIS STORM. I'M IN THIS STORM WITH THE LORD AS HE LEADS ME THROUGH GREEN PASTORS OF LIFE. THANK YOU JESUS.

Material prosperity is not important, it is peace in your life and joy in you heart that is important and without God neither of those would occur. Extreme trials does not mean you are not walking with God. God uses extreme trial to test and/or strengthen our faith.
